The working principle of gear pumps

Working Principle of Gear Pumps: The driving gear with internal teeth (outer rotor) rotates in the same direction as the inner rotor within a fully enclosed pump housing. Crescent-shaped plates on the pump body and front cover separate the suction port from the discharge port. As the rotors turn, a negative pressure is created at the suction port, drawing liquid into the pump. The rotors then convey the liquid to the discharge port, where it is expelled from the pump under pressure, completing the fluid transfer process. The pump primarily consists of inner and outer rotors, shafts, a pump housing, a front cover, a bracket, seals, bearings, and other components. There are two types of seals: mechanical seals and packing seals. For high-temperature, high-viscosity, or highly corrosive media, packing seals are recommended. When transporting materials prone to crystallization, insulation jackets can be designed on the front cover and pump housing, allowing steam heating and melting during operation. The pump can be equipped with a relief valve; when the pump or pipeline system experiences overpressure, the valve opens to create internal recirculation, thereby safeguarding the system. Internal components of internal gear pumps wear over time—gear pump casings, oil seals, and oil seal aging all contribute to wear. Wear on the internal components of the gear pump leads to internal leakage. A large leakage area between the shaft sleeve and the gear end faces is the primary cause of oil leakage. Wear and internal leakage reduce the volumetric efficiency of gear pumps, resulting in an output power that is significantly lower than the input power.

During the operation of a bending machine, the hydraulic pump drives the hydraulic cylinder by supplying high‑pressure fluid, thereby enabling control of the bending machine.

Application of Hydraulic Pumps in Injection Molding Machines

The application of hydraulic pumps in injection molding machines is extremely important. An injection molding machine is a piece of equipment used to manufacture plastic products; it operates by heating plastic via a hydraulic system, injecting it into a mold, and then cooling it to form the desired product.

Application of Gear Pumps in Hydraulic Presses

Gear pumps are widely used in hydraulic presses. A hydraulic press is a device that uses fluid to transmit force, and the gear pump is one of the key components responsible for providing the fluid power. The primary principle behind a gear pump is to utilize the rotation of gears to generate fluid flow and transmit fluid pressure throughout the system. This type of pump boasts advantages such as a small footprint, light weight, simple construction, and smooth operation, making it ideally suited for use in hydraulic presses.

Hydraulic pumps are used in blow molding machines.

Hydraulic pumps are frequently used in the hydraulic systems of blow molding machines, as their high efficiency and stable performance make them an ideal choice.

Application of Gear Pumps in Bending Machines

The gear pump is a commonly used hydraulic transmission device that finds wide application in various types of mechanical equipment. In pipe benders, the use of gear pumps is particularly important. A pipe bender is a machine used to shape metal pipes into curved forms; its operating principle relies on the power supplied by a hydraulic system to drive the gear pump, which then delivers hydraulic oil to the hydraulic cylinders of the pipe bender, enabling the machine to perform bending operations. Gear pumps offer advantages such as simple construction, compact size, and stable operation, providing consistent fluid pressure and flow rate to ensure that the pipe bender can complete bending tasks efficiently and accurately. Therefore, the application of gear pumps in pipe benders cannot be overlooked.

Gear pumps are used in hydraulic stations.

Gear pumps are common and critical hydraulic components, widely used in hydraulic stations. Hydraulic stations are indispensable equipment in industrial production, serving to provide power and control the operation of hydraulic systems while offering features such as stable pressure and adjustable flow rates. As the core component of a hydraulic station, the gear pump plays a vital role in converting mechanical energy into hydraulic energy. It generates hydraulic energy through the meshing and rotation of gears, conveying fluid through pipelines to the various actuating elements within the hydraulic system. Thanks to their simple structure, compact size, and high output flow, gear pumps are extensively employed in hydraulic stations.
